10-07-2007:Repeat win for Bénéteau – success in RSYC McGuigan Wines Round the Island Double

Bénéteau 34.7s have once again been sailed past the fleet, in its second significant race success, taking the top three places in the Class 1 IRC slot for the RSYC McGuigan Wines Round the Island Double - on Saturday 7th July.

Over 120 yachts took part in this double handed race round the Isle of Wight.  With 40 boats competing in Class 1 IRC, the three winners were all from the Bénéteau stable.

The winners included Ancasta’s Bénéteau Sales Manager Richard Allen with Jamie Collins, sailing Peter Morton’s ‘Salvo’.  In second place were Chris and Hannah Neve in ‘No Doubt’ and in third place Clemency Williams and Nick Bubb in ‘Jos of Hamble’.

Chris and Hannah Neve were the first owners to buy a 34.7 in the UK and represented the UK in the Commodore’s Cup last year.

Ancasta’s Richard Allen said:  “It was a great event and we were delighted that the Bénéteau 34.7 stood out so well from the pack.  It’s a great race, the 34.7  has proved itself easy to sail short handed as well as fully crewed as proved in the recent IRC Championships where the 34.7 finished 2nd & 3rd overall”.

Recently Bénéteau has celebrated the success of the Bénéteau First 50, coming first in its class in the JPMorgan Asset Management Round the Island race, Helmed by Tony McBride. Crew included Ancasta’s Richard Allen – another winning outing for him!

With so many owners now racing and enjoying their Bénéteaus, Ancasta organises the annual Bénéteau Cup, taking place this year from August 16-19 in the Solent.  With four divisions to choose from depending on how seriously people want to race - from IRC to a mixture of fun racing and a treasure hunt - there is fun for everyone and serious competition for those who want it.  Throughout the weekend, Ancasta will be laying on a full programme of partying and entertainment for those taking part.

Models will be displayed at the Southampton Boat Show taking place from September 14 – 23.
