11-10-2007: There’s 'No Doubt' it’s quicker with two Beneteau 34.7 No Doubt wins JOG Class 4 Inshore Series
Chris and Hannah Neve have cleaned up in the JOG Class 4 Inshore Series in their Bénéteau 34.7 No Doubt winning four in a best of five series. No doubt a resounding success, but they also won the series sailing double handed and competing against fully crewed boats.
The Neves bought their Bénéteau 34.7 from Ancasta in March 2006. The first of this class to come into the UK, it was in the top British Team in the Commodore’s Cup. Like many boat owners, Hannah says it’s sometimes hard to get a full crew of eight together for the racing. “Even though I was a bit concerned about what effect it would have on our marriage, Chris and I decided we’d give double handed sailing a go” said Hannah. They entered the JOG Christchurch Bay Inshore race, and won it. “After that it was easy,“ said Hannah. “At least we know we are both going to turn up to race!”
The Bénéteau 34.7 No Doubt is sailed using the traditional symmetrical spinnaker set up, which the couple find easy to manage. They also recommend the new B&G H3000 instrument system and pilot which has enabled them to access data very easily. The cockpit layout and control lines lend themselves to short handed sailing, and the option to buy the Bénéteau 34.7 with symmetrical or assymmetical spinnaker set up also adds flexibililty.
“Above all, the Bénéteau 34.7 is a quick boat,” concludes Hannah. “They’ve been optimised to race competitively against other boats, and it’s great to sail quickly even with just the two of us on board. No doubt a winner!”
