Chemring Marine Ltd, part of the Chemring Group, will be exhibiting the latest products from the two world leading marine distress signal brands Comet and Pains Wessex on Stand 26 at SASMEX.
Continuing to operate as two separate brands under a single business unit formed by Chemring Marine, this provides the opportunity to see the complete range from the world’s leading brands of Comet and Pains Wessex in one location.
Purchased by commericial users the world over, Comet products are renowned for their compact size and ease of operation. Adhering to the latest standards, the Comet SOLAS range on show at SASMEX includes the Line-Throwing Device. Available in a four pack unit, designed to meet commercial vessel requirements, or as a single shot unit, Comet Line-Throwing device comprises a powerful rocket to carry line over 230m even in extreme weather conditions.
In Comet’s pyrotechnic range, visitors to SASMEX can see the compact Red Parachute Rocket which produces a 30,000 candela rocket to an altitude of 300m burning for 40 seconds alongside the new Red Handflare. This telescopic design ensures safe and easy handling under all conditions thanks to its pull wire firing mechanism, and produces a 15,000 condela flare which burns for 60 seconds.
In its smoke signal range, Comet has two products; the 4 minute Buoyant Smoke Signal, and the Light-Smoke Signal. The Buoyant Smoke Signal is manually operated, emitting a dense orange smoke which is used to indicate position and wind direction. Safe to use even on oil
covered water, this signal is designed to minimum size and weight making it ideal for use in liferafts.
The Light-Smoke Signal is maintenance free, and designed to be fitted and forgotten, thanks to its automatic release mechanism. When operated, it indicates lifebuoy position using pyrotechnics and high intensity light. The dense orange smoke is emitted for 15 minutes, and two lithium powered lights produce two candela for two hours.
The full Comet range, available worldwide through its network of international distributors, is on show on Stand 26 at SASMEX. All Comet products are manufactured in compliance with the latest SOLAS and MED requirements to meet the international standards for Safety of Life at Sea.
Now part of the Chemring Group, Comet products are available through Chemring Marine, building on a hundred-year history of innovation and development and employing over 2000 people at 15 operations in the UK, US, Germany, Spain, France and Australia. www.chemringmarine.com
