14-02-2008: Bitter End Yacht Club announces dates for 4th Annual Bucket Regatta and Rendezvous
The Bitter End Yacht Club in the British Virgin Islands is renowned as one of the finest watersports resorts in the world, recognised internationally for its world-class regattas and famous for its hospitality for passing yachts and mega-yachts. In 2008, it will host the 4th Annual Bucket Regatta, in conjunction with the Bye Bye BVI Rendezvous Regatta, open to sailing yachts 65 feet and up.
Taking place from April 25-27, 2008 this is a great event for owners or guests, or an opportunity for your crew to relax and party after a busy sailing season. Participants have included Mike Slade’s Leopard and Swan 110 Song of the Seas, as well as numerous Farr 65s, Farr 80s, and previous Whitbread and Volvo Round the World race boats. This year the event is sponsored by Dockwise Yacht Transport and Meridian Yacht Charters.
The three day event combines a three hour offshore sprint race, followed by a day of small boat racing in Lasers and Hunter 216s with the results from the dinghy racing counting in the overall standings. The final day sees the “Around Virgin Gorda” race, with the final awards party and dinner rounding off the event.
The Bitter End Yacht Club will present prizes for 'Classics' (pre-1970) and 'Moderns' (post-1970), best crew gear, best maintained power, best maintained sail and more. With many of the top international figures in yacht racing at the event, the post racing presentations will be hosted by megayacht power and sail industry insiders.
