TheYachtMarket.Com Southampton Boat Show
(Main stand E043 and Boatcare J310)
As we celebrate 50 years of The YachtMarket.Com Southampton Boat Show, the Dean & Redyhoff team are raising a glass to toast 25 years of the very first Dean & Reddyhoff marina.
John Dean and Richard Reddyhoff had a huge task in building Haslar Marina – reclaiming land, dredging the creek, building the wave break and refitting the Mary Mouse Lightship. In 1993, Haslar Marina welcomed the first berth holder, Dick Pinhey with ‘Corsair of Barbary.’
Ben Lippiett, Haslar Marina Manager for Dean & Reddyhoff comments, “We are looking forward to celebrating Haslar Marina’s history and swapping stories and memories. A quarter of a century later, it’s fantastic that 22 of the original berth holders are part of the Haslar Marina family. We’ve created a photo album at Haslar Marina, so if you’ve got photos and boating tales to share then do please pop along and see us at TheYachtMarket.Com Boat Show. We look forward to celebrating the next 25 years with existing and new berth holders.”
To mark 25 years of Haslar Marina here are some of our favourite facts from 2018:
- There are 60 litres paint on the outside of the iconic Mary Mouse lightship
- 5 km of fibre optic cable laid for new WiFi
- 2 km of electric cable laid for new bollards
- 3 km of replacement pontoon boards laid
- 22 cubic metres of rubbish collected from the shoreline
- 194 species of birds spotted within 1km of Haslar Marina by the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust
Haslar Marina are keen supporters of the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust and the berth holders and marina team are eagerly awaiting the results of the second seal survey. The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust team are joining the marina teams from Portland, Weymouth, East Cowes, Deacons and Haslar at TheYachtMarket.Com Southampton Boat Show.
Visitors can find out more about berthing options at one of the five friendly south coast Dean & Reddyhoff marinas and the range of services our two boatyards offer from the team.
More than boating
As well as the new dry stack facility and Portland, investment plans for Haslar Marina and upgrading of facilities taking place, there’s a diverse and growing business community at Dean & Reddyhoff Marinas with a range of business units from shops and offices to boatsheds and workshops that are let to local companies.
Portland Marina has recently welcomed several new tenants including innovative marine companies Atlas Elektronik UK, Subsea Craft, yacht broker Why Boats and contemporary collage seascape and abstract artist, Keith ‘Kitt’ Athay who has opened an art studio and gallery.
