Helly Hansen introduces its lightest-ever mountaineering waterproof shell: the new Odin Infinity Minimalist Jacket

Developed with Feedback from Professional Mountain Guides

For nearly 150 years, technical outdoor brand Helly Hansen has been trusted by professionals around the world, working closely with them to ideate and test their newest designs and technologies. Driven by innovation, the Norway-based brand continues to push the boundaries of outdoor performance, and the new Odin Infinity Minimalist Jacket is no exception. Launching in Spring/Summer ’26, the Odin Infinity Minimalist Jacket is the brand’s lightest-ever, fully waterproof mountaineering shell jacket while still providing the highest level of breathability, making it ideal for fast-paced alpine activities like mountaineering and mountain running.

Developed with insights and feedback from JF Plouffe, a professional mountain guide in Squamish, BC, and Mountain Madness, a US-based guiding company founded by two of America’s most recognised mountaineers, the Odin Infinity Minimalist Jacket is super lightweight and packable. The professional mountain guides expressed the need for a jacket that could be packed away most of the time but could be put on in emergency situations and extreme weather. Made with the lightest fabric possible for a waterproof shell jacket, the Odin Infinity Minimalist Jacket is unmatched – weighing just 220g for the men’s style and 200g for the women’s.

While being exceptionally lightweight, the fully seam sealed jacket also features LIFA INFINITY™, part of Helly Hansen’s most innovative waterproof/breathable technology to date, with a new bicomponent ePP LIFA INFINITY™ membrane for even greater waterproofness with prolonged protection against water pressure. Combining a microporous layer, based on the brand’s LIFA® technology, with a non-porous layer (water-based PU) maximises membrane performance and the 3.5-layer HELLY TECH® Professional construction guarantees weatherproof protection when an unexpected storm hits.

With a minimalist, purpose-built design, every part of the new jacket was thoughtfully considered alongside feedback from the professionals. Underarm gusset construction delivers optimal agility; an adjustable and helmet compatible hood, adjustable bottom hem with an integrated drawstring, and soft fleece chin guard offer a customisable fit and comfort; and an internal power mesh stash pocket with webbing loop clips on to a carabiner for easy storage. Not least the jacket is also equipped with RECCO® for safety and searchability in emergency situations.

“As mountaineering continues to evolve towards fast-paced alpine activities, ultralightweight gear that doesn’t compromise on protection is crucial,” said Martin Cizeron, Product Manager for Outdoor at Helly Hansen. “In working with our professional mountain guides, it was clear they needed a jacket that could keep them safe without slowing them down. Our design team delivered, and we’re proud to introduce our lightest-ever waterproof mountaineering shell jacket in Spring/Summer ’26.”

“It’s the most lightweight mountaineering jacket,” added Plouffe. “Can you imagine the storm is coming in, you pull the jacket out of your backpack, zip it up and put your hood on, and you’re ready for the storm to hit.”

The Odin Infinity Minimalist Jacket will be available in both men’s and women’s specific designs in-store and online starting Spring 2026. To learn more about LIFA INFINITY™ technology and Helly Hansen’s existing Odin styles, please visit www.hellyhansen.com/en-gb.
