Helly Hansen Brings Warmth to the Arctic with Consciously Designed Parkas and Jackets

Since 1877, Helly Hansen has prided itself as a company that makes professional-grade, high performance, and comfortable clothing for the harshest conditions on the planet. The brand does not disappoint with its Autumn/Winter 2019 line, including the new Arctic Patrol collection built specifically for the cold and dry climates of the arctic.

Comfort, performance, and recyclable clothing takes new meaning with the Arctic Patrol 3-in-1 Jacket, a 600-fill responsible Allied down jacket, that incorporates thread and trims from natural, biodegradable materials, woven cotton face fabrics with PFC-free DWR, and buckles made from recycled Lifa® scrap material – Helly Hansen’s proprietary fiber used to create base layers.

Knowing incredibly cold temps can crack and damage waterproof coatings, Helly Hansen uses a PFC-free DWR to ensure comfort, mobility and packability without fear of losing your protection. When weather rolls in, a lightweight water- and wind-resistant shell quickly deploys from the hand pocket, and easily snaps onto the exterior to offer protection from rain, tears, or dirt. And the icing on the cake is that this entire jacket is either biodegradable or recyclable at the end of its days. Simply remove the zippers and place them in the recycling bin with the rain shell, and bury the down-filled jacket in your backyard, given the cotton and down are biodegradable.

“This collection fills a gap we found in the parka category,” explains Kristoffer Ulriksen, category managing director for Urban at Helly Hansen. “All the finer details of each jacket, from the repair kit that comes with it, to instructions on how to repair and dispose of the jacket, and to our choice of not adding a coating to the face of the fabrics are in direct response to our work with professionals that explore and work in the most remote locations of the arctic.”

Further additions to the Arctic Patrol collection include the Arctic Patrol Down Parka, filled with 320g of 80/20 600-fill responsible Allied down, PFC-free DWR on a durable face fabric, and easily replaceable zippers, should repairs become necessary over years of use. Lastly, the Arctic Patrol Parka includes a snow skirt, reflective detailing for safety, an un-coated cotton polyester face fabric with PFC-free DWR, and a built-in, but easily removable, balaclava for the harshest of days. All jackets within the Arctic Patrol collection will be available in sizing XXS-XXL to accommodate both men and women.
