Helly Hansen Wins ISPO Award for Kvitfjell Race Insulated Jacket

Helly Hansen is honoured to be recognised with an ISPO Award for the new Kvitfjell Race Insulated Jacket, available Fall/Winter 2024. Designed in collaboration with the Norwegian national alpine ski team – Team Telenor Alpine Norway, the jacket is celebrated for a purposeful design through innovative technologies and professional-influenced features desired by both World Cup alpine skiers and enthusiasts alike. Closely reviewed and evaluated by an international jury of outdoor experts, the award acknowledges the jacket’s innovation, performance-based design, and bluesign®-certified credentials.

Since 1877, Helly Hansen has been the brand trusted by professionals, using insight and experience to create gear to perform in even the toughest outdoor conditions. As the official apparel sponsor of Team Telenor Alpine Norway, Helly Hansen has worked alongside these professional skiers to design a kit that fulfills the demands of training and competition conditions on ski slopes around the world.

“We are honored to receive the ISPO Award for our Kvitfjell Race Insulated Jacket,” said Oyvind Vedvik, VP of Ski at Helly Hansen. “The Kvitfjell Race Insulated Jacket spares no detail in ensuring these athletes, who are performing at the highest level of their sport, can train and compete with total confidence in their gear. With the blend of our brand heritage and the team’s professional influence, this jacket is designed to keep ski enthusiasts of all levels comfortable and performing on the slopes.”

The Norwegian national alpine team expressed the need for a warm and flexible jacket that could easily be taken on and off any number of times throughout a day of training. Helly Hansen designers refined each detail, including:

• Widened cuffs that allow room for arm guards, as well as rapid jacket removal while keeping gloves on
• Extra high collar and helmet-compatible hood to maintain warmth and protection when needed
• HELLY TECH® Professional 2-layer construction using 4-way stretch fabric and PFC-free durable water repellent treatment, providing a fully waterproof and seam sealed garment that allows for complete mobility
• PrimaLoft® Black Ocean Recycled insulation maintains warmth while ventilation openings add to the breathability
• The women’s jacket includes an expander zipper in the center back to provide additional fit and comfort options for a variety of body types

Additional features include a RECCO® reflector for added safety, an adjustable powder skirt, multiple pockets, and mesh ventilation for added breathability. The Life Pocket+™ keeps your pocket three times warmer than traditional pockets, keeping phones running longer in colder climates. A newly added silicone grip leash accommodates a variety of phone sizes to minimize any drop risk.

Statement from the ISPO Awards jury: “A bluesign®-certified stylish ski jacket in a retro look that will not only appeal to ski racers. With the combination of 4-way stretch, recycled materials and smart details such as the Life Pocket+™, this ski jacket stands out from the crowd.”

The Kvitfjell Race Insulated Jacket will be available in both men’s and women’s styles in a range of colorways, in-store and online in Fall/Winter 2024.
