Helly Hansen Wins ISPO Award for Odin Everdown Hooded Jacket

Helly Hansen is honoured to be recognised with an ISPO Award for the new Odin Everdown Hooded Jacket, available for Fall/Winter 2024. The lightest-weight performance down jacket Helly Hansen has ever designed, this is a purpose-built, high[1]performance piece of gear for intense days in the mountains when temperatures are low. Closely reviewed and evaluated by an international jury of outdoor experts, the award celebrates the jacket’s collaborative design process with mountain guide and rescue professionals, as well as the innovative use of THINDOWN® insulation, the first-ever real down fabric.

By pairing a 10-denier ripstop face fabric made from 100% recycled nylon with THINDOWN®, the new Odin Everdown Hooded Jacket feels lightweight – 325g for men’s large, 275g for women’s medium – while delivering heavyweight warmth. The uniform structure of this innovative insulation creates a continuous and even distribution of goose down, removing the need for horizontal stitching which often leads to cool air passing through to the body where heat is desired. In addition, should any tears of the face fabric occur, there will be no leak or loss of feathers. Strategic placement of the insulation within the body and the hood enables unrestricted movement and temperature regulation, while PFC-free DWR treatment on the exterior provides a layer of weather protection.

“We are honored to receive the ISPO Award for our Odin Everdown Hooded Jacket,” said Sofia Jönsson, Category Manager of Outdoor at Helly Hansen. “As a partner to mountain professionals and search and rescue teams who risk their lives to keep adventurers safe around the world, Helly Hansen was inspired to design a lightweight down jacket where no detail was overlooked or excessive. This jacket is a solution to keep these professionals, and outdoors enthusiasts of all levels, comfortable, protected and alive in the outdoors.”

Statement from the ISPO Awards jury: “Helly Hansen presents a novelty with this highly functional, lined down jacket. The jacket does not require quilting thanks to innovative sheet insulation, which offers a number of advantages, both in production and application.”

The new jacket offers a minimalist design by using elastic at the hood, hem, and cuffs to add to heat retention, zipper-free hand pockets allow speedy hand warming and less weight, and a RECCO® reflector ensures added safety and searchability. When temperatures plummet, this new jacket brings all the necessary features, required and requested by professionals, to perform during alpine endeavours.

The Odin Everdown Hooded Jacket will be available in men’s and women’s specific styles both in[1]store and online starting Fall 2024. To learn more about Helly Hansen’s work with outdoor professionals, visit www.hellyhansen.com.
