This simultaneous launch across three different product categories highlights the brand’s commitment to addressing athletes changing relationship with exercise and the outdoors as we move to live with, rather than under Covid-19. Through Polar products and services, the brand is committed to encourage athletes to pursue true adventure after research revealed that exploring different spaces and doing a variety of sports brings significant health benefits. The research, analysed by looking at the habits of over 10,000 athletes shows:

• The top 20% of users in 2021 who explored new spaces during exercise recorded several benefits when compared to those who were most likely to stick to familiar routes:
  • Sleep quality was rated 13% higher
  • 16% more steps were taken daily
  • A slightly lower heart rate was recorded on average during running exercises
• That said, the number of individuals exploring new spaces decreased in 2021 when compared to 2019 as more people exercise in the same location.
• In 2021, those who trialled various types of sport recorded a slightly lower resting heart rate and elevated maximal aerobic power compared to those who repeatedly played the same sports.
• Despite these benefits, there was an average decline of 17.4% in the uptake of different sports between 2019 – 2021.

Yet, what many don’t realize, is that going on adventures and trying different sports can have significant health benefits. POLAR’S NEW GLOBAL PARTNERSHIP: WORLD HEART FEDERATION

As leader in the heart rate measurement technology, Polar teamed up with the World Heart Federation (WHF) to amplify the significance of heart health through physical activities and supporting their mission of providing every human being with the information, care and treatment people need to keep their heart healthy. In light of World Heart Day 2021 and the simultaneous arrival of the colourful new Polar Unite Fitness Tracker, Polar will be making a donation to the WHF’s Colours To Save Hearts initiative.

Colours To Save Hearts is an initiative aimed at raising awareness of rheumatic heart disease (RHD) among children, teachers, and parents in Mozambique, which has an estimated 3% disease incidence – one of the highest rates among school-aged children in sub-Saharan Africa. It is the first step towards celebrating a continued partnership and helping the causes the World Heart Federation represents for generations to come.
