Amicus Law is delighted to announce the promotion of Erin Darling-Finan to Associate and Head of its Ilminster office, marking an exciting step forward for both Erin and the firm’s Somerset-based team.
Having joined Amicus Law as a Chartered Legal Executive specialising in Personal Injury, Erin’s appointment recognises not only her professional achievements and legal expertise, but also her commitment to providing clients with the highest standard of care and support.
Erin’s promotion reflects her exceptional skill, dedication, and leadership. Her new role will see her lead the Ilminster office, overseeing services including personal injury, wills and probate and conveyancing while promoting Amicus Law within the local community. She is passionate about ensuring that everyone in the Ilminster area feels familiar and comfortable with their local law firm.
Erin commented: “I’m so proud to be taking on this role and to represent Amicus Law in Ilminster. We have a fantastic team here, and my goal is to make sure our community knows that expert legal advice is available on their doorstep, delivered with a personal, approachable touch. Amicus Law has always stood for professionalism with humanity, and I’m excited to build on that locally.”
Erin’s career began as an Office Junior before progressing to secretary and paralegal, gaining experience in Criminal Law, Civil Litigation and Wills and Probate. She developed a strong interest in Personal Injury law and has worked in this field exclusively since 2016, qualifying as a lawyer with the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives along the way. Today, she represents clients across a range of complex cases including fatal accident claims, traumatic amputation claims, and those involving life-changing injuries.
Her outstanding contribution to the legal profession was recognised in 2024, when she won Young Achiever of the Year at the Personal Injury Awards, and was shortlisted for Chartered Legal Executive of the Year at the Devon and Somerset Law Society Awards. That same year, Erin was appointed to the Executive Committee of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL), where she contributes to legal reforms and campaigns supporting injured people.
Claire Lovett, Managing Partner at Amicus Law, commented: “Erin’s promotion is an incredible achievement and thoroughly deserved. Her drive, expertise, and genuine care for clients set a brilliant example for the whole team. We’re proud to have her leading our Ilminster office and know she’ll continue to strengthen our ties within the local community.”
Outside of work, Erin enjoys performing with local theatre groups and her band. A passionate reader, she also enjoys adding to her home library.
Amicus Law’s Ilminster office offers a range of legal services, including conveyancing, wills and probate and personal injury, supported by the expertise of colleagues across the firm’s wider network of offices in Somerset, Devon, and Dorset.
