Join us to celebrate 25 years of outlet shopping at Clarks Village

1993. The year of the iconic Kate Moss Calvin Klein Obsession campaign, grunge fashion moved mainstream, Take That scored their first number one hit with Pray, and blockbuster movies included Jurassic Park, Mrs Doubtfire and Sleepless in Seattle.

1993 was also the year that 50,000 visitors flocked to Clarks Village for the opening of the first UK outlet shopping centre and the thrill of high street and designer brands offering up to 60% off RRP all in one location. The original UK outlet centre shops included Benetton, Clarks, Dartington Crystal, Farah, Laura Ashley, Pierre Cardin, Thorntons and Wrangler. The initial development included shops, cafes and restaurants and was built in 22 weeks at a cost of £3million. 300 jobs were created in the complex and 15,000 plants were moved to the site just before the opening.

25 years later, the iconic factory tower, mature landscaped gardens and London plane trees continue to make Clarks Village a unique shopping experience for the millions of guests that visit. Today there are more than 90 high street and designer brands, cafes and restaurants that continue to offer great value for money to fashion foragers and style seekers. Brands that have recently opened at Clarks Village include Jack Wills, Barbour, Original Penguin, Yankee Candle and Hamleys.

So, to celebrate, as well as lots of extra amazing offers over the summer, on Saturday 11 August and Sunday 12 August, there will be a series of immersive and theatrical experiences at Clarks Village. The Celebration Sisters will make you smile as they host music and merriment, on the spot games and activities from their beautiful pop up floral bandstand. Put your feet up and enjoy the stunning swing chair draped with beautiful blooms. Throw some shapes on the dancefloor with our silent disco made up of your awesome music suggestions. If you love to share your talent or just have a go then share your tunes on our floral dressed piano.

Children will love Wildestra, the magical and marvellous character who will be story telling in her festive Tipi. She’ll also host craft activities like making flower head dresses, bug hotels or lavender bags. There will also be a trail with a little something for all the children who complete it.

Chris Davis, Centre Manager at Clarks Village, comments: “Clarks Village has continued to evolve and meet the needs of its guests and we are really proud to be celebrating 25 years of offering value and choice, in our stunning location in the heart of Somerset. We hope that you can join our events over the summer as we celebrate our heritage and look forward to our future. No celebration would be complete without cake, so we’re delighted that Love My Cake from Yeovil will be creating a baking masterpiece for us.”
