Top mountain guides inspire Helly Hansen in development of new outdoor collection

Founded by a Norwegian commercial fisherman in 1877, Helly Hansen has always depended on professionals to develop products made to perform in some of the world’s harshest environments. Designed in tandem with mountain guides and adventurers who depend on the products daily to perform and stay safe in demanding conditions, enthusiasts looking to upgrade their Mountain gear can confidently “choose like a pro” while aligning Helly Hansen products with their chosen pursuits.

The new men’s and women’s Helly Hansen Verglas 3-Layer Shell Jacket extends the Helly Hansen promise of versatility, quality and comfort in a design that works for backpacking, climbing or wandering outdoors in rainy, icy and snowy conditions. Named after the French word for a thin layer of ice or rain, the Verglas jacket offers the right level of protection from the weather, rocks, branches and jagged ice with a strong and lightweight three-layer Helly Tech® waterproof-breathable fabric. The jacket is designed for both harness and backpack compatibility, with a hood featuring both horizontal and vertical cord adjustments.

Professional mountain guide and Helly Hansen ambassador, Guillaume Otis, comments on what he looks for in clothing fit for the Coast Mountain guides, saying, “Functionality and durability are the most important criteria when choosing the right gear. The job can be very physical in variable conditions, so built in reinforcements and fabrics for where ‘wear and tear’ happens are vital in the design. Visibility is also a feature that is important for a guide, as well as gear designed with the intention for mountaineering, using a helmet, backpack and harness.”

The outdoor gear designed for the Winter 2018 season continues to incorporate the feedback from mountain and ski professionals around the world, to develop the most made-for-purpose gear possible.

The Verglas 3L Jacket’s simplistic, yet fully-technical construction will be that perfect light layer of protection for fall and winter outdoor pursuits. For more information about Helly Hansen and to see the latest collections, please visit: www.hellyhansen.com.
