Mental health and wellbeing remains at the top of the ADPR agenda and we are proud to announce we have officially signed the Time to Change Employer Pledge, demonstrating our ongoing commitment to changing the way we all think and act about mental health in the workplace.
ADPR has joined over 1,200 organisations in the UK to sign the Time to Change Employer Pledge. With one in four workers suffering from conditions like anxiety, depression and stress, mental health is a significant work place issue that shouldn’t be ignored. By officially pledging our commitment to this important cause, we will be supported by a 12-month Employer Action Plan, founded on a combination of the principles of the 2017 Thriving at Work Report and evidence based interventions researched by the Time to Change Employers Team.
The Employer Pledge and Employer Action Plan will support ADPR to put in place best-practice interventions and policies to help the team work in ways that actively promote positive mental wellbeing.
Kate O’Sullivan says: “It’s shocking to hear that 60% of people say that stigma and discrimination are as damaging, or more damaging, than the symptoms of their mental health problem and that 54% of people are impacted most by stigma in their place of work. I believe that it’s vitally important for employers to acknowledge the extent of mental health issues within the workplace and to take responsibility for providing a safe working environment for employees. By signing the Pledge I hope that the ADPR team will feel more supported about issues concerning mental health and will be more confident about making managers and colleagues aware of their experiences.”
Although organisations must have their Employer Action Plans approved by a member of the Time to Change team, it is free to sign. Once signed, organisations will have access to a free package of support which includes invitations to a series of masterclasses on key topics and themes about workplace wellbeing, activity and resource packs for key campaign dates, the opportunity to train staff to become Mental Health Champions in the workplace and access to a monthly newsletter full of useful resources.
